Summary: Volkl added a little more girth to the Mantra's already hefty frame this summer giving it even more float and power. When you change a ski as popular as the Mantra, the old "why fix it if it ain't broke" comes to mind, but we think it's more like making one of the best just a little better! The Mantra is about as solid as they come and it's ready to handle anything you can throw at it, so hang on and get ready to charge!

The Mantra is back with the same name but a new shape, 2mm wider all the way down. The new shape gives it a little more float, but it's still the pinnacle product for the skier who wants to ski the super deep stuff, yet still have a solid, race-ski like feel on the front of the mountain.

Skiing magazine: "Testers like the Mantra's turn execution, turn stability, and hard-snow grip. Though lightweight, it throttled down crud and chewed groomers at all speeds. Gripes: A wider footprint would improve powder flotation. Props: Precise yet floaty in crud. Tester's Take: 'Versatile and ready to rage in all conditions.'"
Powder Magazine: "Reasonably stiff with ample sidecut, this GS-style fat ski is a great everyday choice for skiers who face the fall line while riding mixed snow. THe 96mm waist offers plenty of float in powder, while the vertical sidewalls and wood-core construction provide excellent edge-hold on hardpack."
