Summary - The Hardwire is a popular tele
binding that has compression spring cartridges connected to
the toe piece by solid metal wires. It's got great edging
power and a somewhat neutral flex.
Similar to the Rottefella Cobra, the Hardwire uses rigid cables
to connect compression springs to the toe. Not as powerful
as the R8 binding, the Hardwire skis more like the R6. The
wires and spring cartridges have been beefed up over the past
few years, and the result is a very durable binding. A ramped
riser reduces rocker launch - and is compatible with the new
four-hole standard (works with Voile's and K2's pre-drilled
binding inserts).
You can take the Hardwire into the backcountry, but it performs
best on the resort with mid-height or larger boots.
The new women's Hardwire has a shorter heel assembly to better
accommodate smaller women's boot sizes 4-9. |
The Women's Hardwire CRB (Complete Release Binding) is a telemark binding for those who want to do it all. This binding is perfectly at home in the ski area as it is in the backcountry. Why is it labeled a "Women's" binding? Simply, it has a re-sized Hardwire heel assembly to fit the smallest women's boots. Superior skiing performance and safety are achieved with the Hardwire connecting rods and the dramatically improved Voile Release Binding.
Our new V-tech riser platform provides a reliable release, retention and makes it much easier to get back into the release unit after an on-snow release. The Voile Release Binding is the only telemark release binding that will release in a backward fall. The backward fall is typically how most knee injuries are sustained. Perhaps more importantly, it is recommended equipment for skiing in avalanche prone terrian. Having a release system increases the chance of separation of you and your skis, thus helping to prevent injury and deep burial if caught in an avalanche.
Finally, when it comes to durability, Voile sweats every detail in order provide you with the highest quality product and telemark skiing experience. |
Backcountry magazine: ".beefed-up,
tempered aluminum toe plate and stronger toe bar, this hardwired,
compression-sprung cable binding has just about everything
one could ask for in a telemark binding. For the ultimate
in versatility, the 3-pin Hardwire gives those who prefer
a completely free heel on the climb the option to pop off
the hardwire cables. These bindings are also available in
Voile's release CRB system."
Couloir: ".The addition of Voile's ramped riser will
also slightly increase the active flex of this binding and
reduce rocker launch. Unfortunately that also has the consequence
of impeding touring freedom, but only by a couple of degrees.
Voile added stronger hardened steel rods for the HW cables
and put the pivot point about 1.5 cm forward of where it
is on the 3-Pin HW for a more neutral feel..Skiers who like
the HW tend to ski mid-range boots and skis, experience
frequent good snow, or have the skills not to care what
the conditions are like. Another Voile value binding that
many are attracted to for its clean design and function."
