Scarpa Spirit 4 Alpine Touring / Randonnee Boot: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
"This is the one!" Even in August, greedy hands have been fawning over the Spirit 4 in eager anticipation of the coming season. Staunch and steadfast, the stiffness of this boot is atypical of Dynafit compatible boots from past years. The Dynafit pins are set for optimal pivoting, and the Intuition liner is comfortable right out of the box. A great set up for aggressive backcountry skiers would be the Mt. Baker Superlight, Dynafit TLT, and the Spirit 4; you'll love it so much you'll want to marry it.

Tech note: Since the Dynafit tech fitting are mounted 5 mm back, this will require attention while mounting the binding, otherwise you'll be 5mm back on the ski. Doesn't sound like much, but this is a distinguishable difference to some skiers.
A powerful blend between modern, high-performance free ride boot and a classic alpine touring boot.

Features:
-4 Easy Lock buckles with power strap for maximum transmission.
-SCARPA Intuition liner for no-sacrifice performance and comfort.
-Compatible with ALL alpine touring bindings, including Dynafit®
-Ski/walk mechanism is easy to engage and provides maximum touring flex.
-Heel Retention System securely locks the ankle and heel.
-Hinged tongue for uninhibited forward-flex when touring.
-Also comes with ski tongue for extra power.
-Dual-density foot and overlap cuff for optimal support and drive.
Skiing magazine: "The Spirit 4 works with any AT binding. It has four buckles, adjustable forward lean, hear-moldable Intuition liners, and two interchangeable plastic tongues (one touring, the other freeriding) that switch out with ease. Depending on the tongue choice, our testers found the Spirit 4 will drive both the biggest and slimmest sticks."

Backcountry (Sept.07): "The Spirit 4 takes off on the already excellently designed Spirit 3 and adds an extra buckle and stiffer shell. Scarpa has also added Intuition liners to all of their boots, which I thought made them perform that much better. I also really like the touring mode and think it is probably the most comfortable of any of the stiffer AT boots out there. I would highly recommend these for an all-around touring boot."
