Scarpa Spirit 3 Alpine Touring / Randonnee Boot: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
Summary: The new Spirit 3 is chock full of redesigned features to enhance your backcountry experience. New buckles and an overlapping cuff eliminate pressure points, Dual-Density Pebax provides light weight rigidity, and the Dynafit Tech Fittings or pin holes are set back from the front of the toe for greater efficiency.

Tech note: Since the Dynafit tech fitting are mounted 5mm back, this will require attention while mounting the binding, otherwise you'll be 5mm back on the ski. Doesn't sound like much, but this is a distinguishable difference to some skiers.
New Dual-Density Pebax construction offers rigidity where you need it without adding additional weight. The overlap cuff and new buckles spread pressure evenly across the foot and lower leg. DIN standard soles with Dynafit tech fittings work with any AT binding you choose. The tech fittings are set 5mm back from the front of the toe to maximize touring efficiency.
Skiing magazine:
'06 "The Spirit ups the ante for Dynafit-compatible boots. A stiff Pebax shell and three and a half buckles provide ample downhill support. The hinged tongue and recessed toe-attachment points kept us comfy during tours."
'07 "While the Spirit 4 has stolen some of the spotlight, the 3 remains a go-to-boot if you like downhill performance in a relatively light package. THis year, heat-moldable Intuition liners conform better to the shin and ankle, and noticeably increase comfort and responsiveness."
