Scarpa F3 Alpine Touring / Randonnee Boot: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
People trying this boot thinking they were in for a super light softy were surprised to find the F3 taller in the cuff than some of their 4 buckle boots and stiffer in flex. The bellows also take some getting used to when kicking and gliding in Dynafit bindings springing you forward. One tester claims it's good for going straight up and straight down. Flat skis back to the trail head weren't that fluid, but they were great for steeper skinning and the flex lended plenty of support for downhill skiing. Built to ski both steep and deep; built for superior touring.

Features:
-Ergonomic bellows allows incredible flex for efficient skinning and walking.
-Dual-density foot and overlap cuff optimize driving support and touring freedom. -3 Easy Lock buckles with power strap.
-Ski/walk mechanism easy to engage.
-Mid-strap securely locks the ankle and heel.
-Tech fittings for compatibility with Dynafit® bindings.
Backcountry (Sept. 07):"Scarpa's F3 is a boot designed for the "light is right" crowd. Although I don't completely disagree with this philosophy, I do think that you lose a lot of downhill performance in the exchange. The F3 did tour better than any boot in the review and was fine for skiing fairly mellow terrain in predictable conditions. I think that it is a great boot for those who like to get a lot of laps yo-yoing backcountry bowls, and it will certainly let you stay out longer and go a little farther, as long as farther isn't too steep."
