Naxo nx02 Alpine Touring Binding: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
Summary - The nx02 is the lightest of the Naxo line, weighing in at only 4lbs, 14oz.

The technical problems of the early Naxo's have been solved, and Naxo is quickly becoming a forerunner in the AT binding world. The nx02 is one of the lightest step in bindings out there, so if you're not ready for Dynafit, but you place an emphasis on weight, check out the 02.
This is a high-performance binding for intermediate and advanced skiers concerned about weight and reliable release for both touring and downhill in AT and downhill boots. The Virtual Rotation System makes the stride feel more natural. The free-floating heel allows full flexion of the ski.

The Naxo nx02 is designed for touring with a weight of only 4lbs, 14oz (with brakes). Maximum DIN of 10 for all sizes (S,M,L) and a new dampening system in the toe piece

Sizes:
Small:240-284mm
Medium:280-324mm
Large:320-354mm
Skiing Magazine (Oct 06): "Lighter than the nx21, Naxo's new 02 Tour is ideal for the small-quiver skier, or the guy who doesn't want to give up his Lange L10s. The triple-jointed pivot helps disadvantaged alpine boots power up longer skin tracks."

Couloir Mag (Oct.06)
"Naxo's claim to fame is still their innovative double pivot, a slick feature that remarkably smoothes the touring stride on every model in the line. The downside? Kick turns are a bit tougher, and the extra pivot adds a small amount of play in downhill mode. The nx02 is a bit sloppy for our tastes and has a downhill latch (instead of a lock) that's configured to prevent accidental free heeling, but it's light for what you get, so worth a look."

Backcountry magazine: "The solid boot-binding connection worked will with both AT or downhill boots. The torsional stiffness was good; but, occasionally when I got in the backseat or was at high speeds, my edging power was diminished. Heel lifters were more difficult to manipulate via ski pole than those of other rail bindings. The double-pivot allowed the tails to drop, which made for easy kick turns. I'm a huge fan of the Naxo stride, but the hard-snow issue mentioned with the nx21 is a consideration. However, the comfortable stride goes a long way in redeeming minor shortcomings."
