The Team 100 is stiffer in flex than the Jak BC 100 and better suited for advanced to expert skiers using stiff boots.
|
A big mountain ski for all conditions, the Team 100 is designed to meet the needs of hard-charging AT and telemark skiers. It's a super-fat ski that devours fresh powder, but the Team 100 does best when conditions get rough, with Die-Cut Titanal® for a damp, stable ride that plows through cut-up snow at thigh speeds. No one-hit wonder, the Team 100's progressive sidecut initiates turns with ease, and magazines like Powder proclaimed it "surprisingly carvey on firm snow and adept at quick turns on steep terrain." With a full twintip and a burly build, the Team 100 will inspire a whole new level of confidence.

Backcountry magazine: "Last year, they were the Jak Team Edition; this year these wide-bodies have a new name, new graphics and a lighter-weight, eco-friendly plantation-wood trademark Greenlight core. Karhu bills it as an all-conditions, big-mountain ski. Tested in the East, most testers enthusiastically agreed, many noting lightness. It's not at its best on hard snow, but as the Dean of testers commented: 'As long as the edge can enter the snowpack, the ski will carve on hard ice. Excellent all-mountain, all-conditions ski with strengths favoring softer and deeper.' Said another: 'An all-mountain ski in a big-mountain body. Perfect ski for the motivated mountain traveler. Will get up up and down in a hurry.' The testers agreed that in serious crud it worked best when taken up to speed."
Powder Magazine: "The Team 100 is one of those rare powder boards that feels just as comfortable and smooth carving firm snow. With an all-wood core wrapped with Karhu's Die-Cut Titanal (a titanium-aluminum laminate applied to specific pressure-points at the ski's edge), it is an excellent choice for aggressive freeheelers at powder laden resorts out West..."
Skiing magazine: "Karhu's Jak"...
"gets an upgrade in the Team Edition via Titanal inserts, which considerably stiffen the ski. The result is a Jak that skims powder, holds at Mach speeds, and powers through variable conditions. Lots of sidecut makes the tails hooky in trees and hard snow. Its size-to-weight ratio is perfect if you spend your day hiking for big fast lines and deep snow."
Couloir magazine: "...More versatile and damp than the BC 100, with a greater penchant for 'team' speeds than the regular Jak, the Team Edition was all things to all testers of telemark..."
AT: "Opinions diverged a little more for the AT skiers. Alpine crossover testers pegged it as more one-dimensional - a forgiving powder ride with superior float - although our smaller dedicated tourer rated it a more aggressive ride with a smaller sweet spot..."
Telemarkski.com customer George Pethard: "172cm Karhu Team Edition fitted with G3 T/9 race springs (red) – light, fat and fast. Tested for a week in the trees in the Monashee Mountains north of Revelstoke in Canada. Conditions were steep and deep and ranging from Whistler HEAVY to occasional Rocky’s LIGHT. The setup performed amazingly in such varied conditions – just stiff enough to plough through the lower altitude crud and avalanche debris and yet soft enough to floated beautifully in the lighter deeper powder. Thoroughly recommended for aggressive telemarkers."
