| This women's-specific twintip fatty is based off the Jak BC 100, and designed for hard-charging female skiers. Proving that less weight doesn't always equal less ski, the Bertha is a stable and predictable freeride ski for women looking for a little more girth than typical in a women's ski. |
Our female athletes wanted a more aggressive ski, and we answered the call with the Bertha, a big powder, big mountain ski for women chasing after the stronger pull of gravity. The Bertha is a hard-charging twintip that combines a super-fat platform chosen by Karhu athletes with Karhu's proven women's construction. The new Greenlight™ core gives it a lighter, quicker swingweight, while Die-cut Titanal® supplies the power and stability. Sized for aggressive women, the Bertha will push boundaries on the snow.

Skiing magazine:
AT:"'Leave the metal in' was the all-female team's design team's consensus when constructing Bertha. And it's a good thing Karhu did. Our testers found Bertha fun-filled in soft snow but supple and edgy in the crud. Gripes: Girth limits tight turns on hard snow. Props: Charged in soft snow."
Tele: Karhu's new fat ski is one big momma - at 100mm underfoot and 134 in the shovel, it squashes any other chick tick on the market. It loves making huge turns in steep open bowls and floats like a pontoon in powder (the deeper, the better). Gripes: Might just be too much ski - especially in bumps or snug trees. Props: Holds an edge on serious hardpack."
Powder Magazine: "'Big Bertha' might be a better name for this aggressive ski designed for AT/tele. Bertha is a hard-charging twin featuring a super-fat platform, Karhu's Greenlight core and Die-cut Titanal providing a lighter, quicker swing-weight while still offering power and stability."
Backcountry magazine: "Widely known as the wife of Pepin the Short, Bertha only appeared in the longest of her two lengths, and only in the East. A big softie, Karhu's widest femme-dedicated ski is... 'a soft-snow seeker.' 'Nice in powder, tight trees... Easy to turn but not so great at high speeds.' 'Best in deep snow at high speeds... Very light, floats well in powder [but] not for high speeds on flat terrain.' 'I thought they would be floppy and sloppy, but they had more spunk than I expected. We kicked our heels up in the bumps and the woods.'" |
