K2 Piste Pipe Telemark Ski: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
Summary - The 07/08 season's Piste Pipe reappears with only a change in graphics. Don't be swayed by the twin tips and studs; this ski rips not only in the pipe, but is a great powder ski, crud buster, slush skimmer, and will hold an edge in staunch snow as well. It's a narrower, more maneuverable version of the Hippy Stinx. The Piste Pipe features extra thick durable edges, wood core, die-cut switch base, and three sets of inserts to quickly and easily change binding position. New school tele skiers will dig the graphics and park/pipe performance, but more traditional skiers looking for a resort ski should check them out too.
Equally at home in parks and pipes as the rest of the mountain, the original twin-tip freeheel ski gets fresh graphics, but is otherwise unchanged. Stiffer and heavier than the rest of our tele line, it delivers complete confidence whether landing 540 Rodeo's in the park or laying down big lines in the bowls. Three sets of inserts allow you to quickly and easily change the binding position to ensure an optimal stance whether cycling the pipe or chasing pow.

Couloir magazine: "It's been a long time since we first rode K2's Piste Pipe, and while it's been through many renditions, it remains one of the best skis in this category thanks to ample girth and heft. For touring, one tester admitted that heft might even be too much, but for the rest, words like 'solid, stable, damp, and reliable' echoed over and over when defining the Piste Pipe's personality. It floats well in mush and pow, thanks to a 118mm shovel on an 85mm waist, and it bullies crud like the pierced punk it appears to be. It doesn't turn fast naturally, but nothing keeps it from turning either, except maybe a tree or wimpy boots."

Powder magazine:
Lending credibility to park hucksters taking their skills to the backcountry, the Piste Pipe returns with a wider shape.
