The Mega-Star is the new version of previous year's women's specific Mega-Ride.
We haven't had a chance to ski the Mega-Star but many, many miles have been skied around here in the Garmont Mega-Rides. The Dynafit compatible boot of choice in the Elk Mountains, the Mega-Ride can take you places you've only pointed to. Don't forget that in order to ski out there, you have to get there first, and the lightweight comfort of this boot will have you skipping up the skin track. You'll love having that extra energy at the top of the pitch when you gaze down your canvas ready to paint some turns. Don't fret about the soft flex; the Mega-Ride still upholds to tough breakable crust, supportable corn, or fortuitous powder. |
Built for the aggressive female ski mountaineer, the Mega-Star is our newest women's specific, light-weight 4-buckle performance ski-mountaineering boot. It is extremely versatile: light enough for classic go-fast tours, beefy and supportive enough for difficult off-piste freeriding. Its reinforced tongue and double-injected cuff give it remarkable downhill performance without sacrificing light weight and tourablility.
Compatible with both the traditional step-in and Dynafit ultra-light binding systems, Mega-Stars can enjoy the option of an ultra-light binding and ski system for their classic ski touring, or a beefy ski with a step-in binding for freeriding and touring for turns. The Mega-Star is available with our warm, super-light, custom-thermomoldable Gfit3 women's specific liner. Its buckles are sturdy, lightweight Magnesium. The lower buckles have Garmont's "Ice Breaker" pin to reduce icing. The Magnesium canting mechanism is precise and easy to adjust. |
Skiing magazine:"For years lightweight boots helped women race up the skin track, but when it came to charging downhill, they lacked chops. No more. They Dynafit-compatible lightweight four-buckle Mega-Star gives back what you give it."
Backcountry magazine: "Mmmm... Need
I say more? This boot fit like a glove from the start.
The bomber design delivered both comfort and first-rate
performance. The cuff was just the right height for controlled
turns while multiple adjustment options could accommodate
higher arches, wider calves and narrow ankles. The liners
are soft and thermo-formable, which means that the right
size starts painfully small until you thermoform. Switching
from walk to ski mode was easy. The well-rounded Mega-Star
would be a fine choice for intermediate or expert skiers."
