For people who like to tour in meandering terrain, gradual uphills and slopes, the Excursion works well with a fairly substantial touring ski with metal edges. If you are still touring with a leather boot, consider moving up to the Excursion for the waterproofness and the stability of plastic when you get to make some turns.
The new, improved Excursion brings the advantages of plastic boot technology to ski touring: warmth, waterproofness, durability, and downhill performance. It is the first plastic boot designed with the light weight and flexibility required for day trips on the trail and go-light backcountry touring. It was specifically developed for compatability with today's new generation of lightweight edged touring skis. The liner is removable for quick drying. The ultra-light boot has a soft touring flex using Garmont's MultiInjection in a Pebax shell. Two buckles and a power strap provide security and adjustability. This year's Excursion has been improved with a new buckle system and a refined Pad-Lock liner.
