Garmont EnerG G-fit Telemark Boot: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
Summary - The Ener-G is a powerful four buckle monster that feels surprisingly natural and light on your feet.

The Ener-G the most aggressive, high performance boot that Garmont offers. This boot is very stiff and supportive laterally, yet still has a natural feeling forward flex - with resistance that increases deeper in the turn. The Ener-G makes a great choice for skiers who frequent hard snow, for bigger or heavier skiers, and for racers - but is also a good boot for anyone who wants to charge hard and fast. Similar to the Syner-G, the Ener-G has a medium volume fit with a little bit higher instep and wider toe-box.
The Triple-Injected EnerG is our stiffest, burliest telemark boot for all-mountain free heel skiing. It's a very aggressive boot, suitable for steeps, high-speed freeriding on and off-piste, racing, and ski-mountaineering. The Ener-G is very rigid torsionally, giving superb lateral control, with a sweet, progressive forward flex that builds energy through the turn. Four buckles plus a power strap anchor the foot and leg securely and adjust volume for all-day comfort. For this season we have inverted the lower buckles like a randonnee boot for easier hiking and climbing.

The Ener-G has an overlap cuff that gives a closer fit, better buckle adjustment, and precise performance. The cuff's buckles have an additional hook that telescopes out to secure the buckle for walking. The buckles, attached with T-nuts, can be moved 18mm forward or back to accommodate a huge variety of lower leg diameters. The cuff locks in two forward lean positions, 19 and 24 degrees, and unlocks in a free "walk" position.
Couloir: "The Ener-G is Garmont's four-buckle high performance telemark boot. They're stiff enough for all downhill challenges, but light enough to travel almost anywhere. . . . Fans of the Ener-G love its smooth progressive flex and solid edge hold. When fully engaged and released, the boot gives back the stored forces with a predictable dampened pop that is helpful for unweighting and transitions. Not so forwardly stiff that you can't feel powdery nuances, but plenty rigid for handling bulletproof and crust."

Backcountry magazine: "For me the Ener-G remains the ultimate backcountry power boot. It's got four-buckle power for driving the biggest skis, yet it's light and agile enough to ascend with aplomb. You'll not find a snappier tall boot on the market. Turn to turn, it seems like all energy is directed to the edges, not absorbed into the boot. And like the Syner-G this Garmont seems to come with built-in snow-feelers. every terrain change is transmitted like brail from the fingertips."

Powder Magazine:
"The Ener-G, Garmont's sturdiest tele boot, gets a few minor changes this season ['06-'07]. New magnesium buckles save weight and offer a more precise fit; an 'ice-breaker' on the lower buckles reduces annoying freeze-ups; better canting; and a new lace-up liner. Otherwise, the Ener-G remains just what it has always been: as comfortable on the way up as it is strong on the way down."

Skiing magazine:
"For a second year, Garmont's four-buckle tank leads the category for stiffness and forward orientation. The power transmission is instant, the flex is buttery-smooth, and the attitude is take-no-prisoners. Magnesium buckles and light plastic make for easy touring - and two forward-lean angles adjust your stance."
