| The Elektra is a far cry from the Merrell Supercomps that I learned on. Initially, the extra cuff height was slightly uncomfortable on the calves, but that was alleviated by molding the liners. The added control on steeps and hardpack was unbelievable, as well as the ease of turning wider skis. You may not want to use these for multi day hut trips with a lot of mileage, but you'll love the stability you get from all the features this boot has to offer. Also makes slipping into alpine turns a lot easier. Be sure to get an accurate shell fit in these boots as straight out of the box, they will feel tight! |
The Elektra is our new burly women's-specific boot for women who rip. It has a sturdy 4-buckle design with a streamlined walk mechanism. It is a very aggressive boot, suitable for steeps, high-speed freeriding on- and off-piste, racing, and ski mountaineering. The Elektra has Magnesium buckles that are lighter, super-solid, and precise. The lower buckles have Garmont's "Ice Breaker" pin that reduces icing. The new Magnesium canting mechanism is solid and easier to use. The g-fit HIGH W liner was developed specifically for women, with a tough outer material and a simple, effective lace system.

Skiing magazine:
"For years, hard-charging females have been stuck with soft-flexing women-specific boots. Garmont's Elektra changes that, offering a burly telemark boot with a dual-density shell, high liner, and quartet of buckles for bomber stability. Like the men's Ener-G, the Elektra has two forward lean options, and a walking mode. Of course it can tour, but a boot with these creds is all about driving the fall line."
Backcountry magazine: "The combination of four buckles and lace-up liners provide lots of adjustment potential. And the bellows are stiff and provide the creme-de-la-creme of resistance, which I love. It has ample room in the toe box, though the shell seems to lose shape upon flexing. At times, the four buckles seem to be in the way of each other and hard to manage. The Elektra is roomier for a wider foot and is very comfortable for such an aggressive boot. The sensitivity of this boot is great to see in the Garmont line."
