Summary: The Mystic is the women's specific
version of the Ethic. Unlike many other women's specific skis,
the Mystic is a relatively stiff ski designed for strong skiers.
A great all around choice for intermediate to expert women who
find other women's skis too soft.
The Mystic is softer flexing than the Ethic, but is still very
capable and solid underfoot. This ski has excellent edgehold
on firm snow and at speed - and is snappy and quick edge to
edge too. This all-mountain ripper excels in all snow conditions
- likes to go fast and ski steep terrain. Definitely one of
our top picks for a women's AT ski too. If you are looking for
a women's specific ski, but find that other skis made for women
are just too soft, this might be the ski for you |
The Ethic needed an equal, so we created the
Mystic. What more could a woman want? Not only is the Mystic
an effortlessly arcing ski with a lighter swing weight and precise
edge control, it's also strong, dependable and lively. The C-Matrix
construction provides smooth, chatter free skiing on refrozen
crud, and it's also solid enough for hardpack. Made with no
compromises and cut to the same dimensions as the Ethic, the
Mystic is lighter and softer longitudinally but maintains the
same torsional rigidity through the use of Torsion Bow construction.
-Lighter with a softer longitudinal flex -C-Matrix construction
for power without weight -Dual Torsion Bow creates solid edge
control and even flex. -Mid-fat geometry for solid yet effortless
ride. |
Backcountry magazine: "...the Mystic
earned the repeated phrase, "solid and stable." One tester said,
"It's a ski that shreds through the mush and holds up on the
hard stuff." Women agreed that the Mystic holds on at high speeds,
and excels at Gs-size turns, though it received mixed reviews
in the trees....Testers concurred that this ski is not for beginners
but designed for strong skiers who like to ski fast and have
the strength to power a stiff ski that begs for speed."
Couloir: "Stepping into the mid-fat range of women's offerings, the Mystic still weighed in as one of the lightest skis tested, despite its girth. Sure to be a powerhouse on the ascent, the Mystic begged to turn with its light swingweight. While some of our bigger testers wanted a bit larger shovel to offset its smaller waist and low weight, everyone agreed that it excelled at tracking when kept on the snow. Versatile at chewing up firm and variable conditions as a 'nice, agile ski that's greaton the groomed but still rocks in the pow,' the Mystic fit well for both resort and backcountry telemark use."
AT:"The lightweight Mystic drew the attention of ladies looking to go long and fast, although testers with stiffer boots often overpowered the mid-fat with heels locked down. It took a little while to sink into the Mystic's sweet spot, but once there, the enchanting skis dampened turbulence to deliver a smooth ride."
Off-Piste: "With less side cut than most of the mid fats
the Ethic has a more traditional feel and serves more accomplished
skiers better than beginners." |
