/ AT Ski: Product Review |

What independent testers think... |
Summary: The Ethic is a great all-around
ski that can handle any type of snow. This ski is stable underfoot
and very quick edge to edge. Best suited to intermediate to
advanced skiers who enjoy going fast and skiing on steep, technical
terrain.
With a combination wood-Densolite core and BD's "torsion bow",
the Ethic is a little stiffer than its predecessor, the Mira.
This mid-fat ski performs very well on firm snow and at speed.
For such a stable ski, it is surprisingly snappy and quick
under-foot too - fun in moguls and fantastic on steep terrain.
A great all-around choice for strong skiers with bigger boots.

(05-06)
The even flexing, go-anywhere, do-anything semi-fat geometry
and durable yet lightweight construction make the Ethic a perfect
choice as a one-and-only ski, or as an anchor for a growing
quiver.
(04-05)
The Ethic was conceived as the ultimate all-mountain ski.
Its semi-fat geometry - derived from the dimensions of the
popular Mira - produces a stable platform but takes it to
the next level with the adoption of our newest technologies.
Dual Torsion Bow provides even flex for a more predictable
ski in varied conditions, and responsive power when you open
up the throttle. Our new 3-D hybrid Densolite/wood core works
togother to control high-speed jitters by absorbing vibration.
The C-Matrix construction holds it all together and enables
the ski to remain snappy and predictable through seasons of
abuse. No matter what conditions you drop in, the Ethic is
a dependable ride.
-Dual Torsion Bow creates edge control and even flex
-3-D hybrid Densolite/wood core absorbs vibration
-C-Matrix construction provides power without weight
-Semi-fat geometry provides a solid trustworthy platform |
Backcountry magazine: "...overhauling
the best-selling Mira by adding a Dual Torsion Bow construction
- and a shorter size - while retaining the mid-fat profile.
Testers picked up on its liveliness and positive edge hold -
"quick, easy turner that holds a good line," said on - finding
it slightly better in long and medium turns on harder snow.
Some of those familiar with the Mira found the Ethic somewhat
stiffer, sacrificing some wide-range prowess for carving ability."
Couloir: "Can you say damp?...it's probably the most stable ski in this entire category at speed. Make that mach speed. Naturally it holds an edge well, and isn't half shabby in the soft either thanks to a fairly small turn radius. Being so damp, the Ethic does demand confidence with the reigns. It won't turn on its own, so beginners beware. Aggressive skiers, on the other hand, will appreciate its ability to transform chop and frozen chicken-heads into a smooth, stable ride." AT: "For alpine skiers the Ethic's range of turn radii only increases, accepting turns both a little shorter and longer, and otherwidse continuing to deliver a smooth, damp ride."
Off-Piste: "The ski easily runs a wide range of conditions
and handles a day at the resort with ease. Although it is not
as hard charging as the Havoc it fits the all mountain profile
well." |
