| Atomic Kontega Telemark /
AT Ski: Product Review |

Summary - The new Kontega is Atomic's
first tele specific twin-tip park and pipe ski. Plenty of snap and support
for all-mountain use, this ski is a great choice for the jibber
who also enjoys skiing the steeps and charging some groomers
too.
With its 78mm waist, the Atomic Kontega is one of the
narrower of the twin-tipped skis we carry. Certainly
wide enough to handle a variety of snow conditions, the Kontega
definitely is a quick turner and can rip on hardpack. The
Kontega is a good choice for lighter weight / less aggressive
skiers who are looking for a twin tip for both park and all-around
use.

Our new school twin-tip free heeler isn't your
typical pipe and park noodle. Beta technology ensures more
precise pop, and more beef when you land. Think of it as a
tele ski with attitude.
-Magnesium Cap
-Densolite Core
-Chrome Topsheet
The Kontega is a twin tip with great performance for the park. However, you will find that with its flex and sidecut it can effectively serve as an all mountain ski. It is extremely durable and can take a beating in the half pipe. At the same time, it carves nicely and is versatile for on and off piste skiing. |
Couloir magazine: "A little more svelte than the Tacora, the Kontega is Atomic's offering to the twintip crowd. But forget about park performance, as even our aggressive crowd extolled the ability of the Kontega to hold a solid edge on hardpack and at mach speed. Turns were snappy and crisp, delivering the kind of confidence you need in a tight coulior, or for those so inclined, in the bumps. In junk snow they remained smooth, yielding a clean release at the end of each turn. Perhaps the strongest testimonial was the response from the fat luv crowd; though leery of such a narrow plank, they were pleasantly surprised, probably thanks to a huge sweet spot." |
