Atomic Janak Bro Telemark / AT Ski: Product Review
What the TelemarkSki staff thinks... What the manufacturer's Marketing Dept. thinks... What independent testers think...
Summary: The Janak goes new-school this year with its twintipped redesign. At 99mm in the waist the Bro will float fine, and his increased sidecut makes for a better carve on hardpack than this ski's predecessor. A twintip ski for all mountain skiing. Somewhat wider than traditional telemark models and extremely light thanks to innovative technologies.

Skiing magazine: "This fatty is classic Atomic: stiff without chatter, smooth without wimpiness, and multipurpose enough to plow through varying terrain and conditions. Turn transitions are mindless.
Gripes:Feels too fragile - and light - for the hard chargers.
Props: Fat like a big-mountain, but as versatile as a narrower one-ski-quiver board."

Backcountry magazine: "Skiers unfamiliar with the Himalayas might be puzzled by the Janak's name. But add Bro and it's a tip-off to a twin tip. Wider than last year's well-received Janak (archived with new graphics this year), it comes in only two long lengths. Tested in the East, it polarized testers, although most noted its lightness. And for some, that was a detriment: 'When skied in broken or chopped up snow, they get tossed and deflected by every uneven contour.' Others thought it the best ski Atomic has produced in a while, especially when it was taken through short and medium turns. 'Very playful and enjoyable in soft snow,' said one. 'Lightweight and flexible, ideal for deep snow conditions in the backcountry.'"
