Binding: Product Review |

| This burly binding has gotten rave reviews
over the past couple of seasons. The Hammerhead features underfoot
cable routing, a bomber toepiece, and 5 cable guide positions
to accommodate the skier's preference whether it be an extremely
active feel all the way to a very neutral one. New features
for the '05-'06 season include a self-centering toepiece to
adjust for variability in boot molds, as well as a redesigned
tail throw. It may be a bit on the heavier side, but if ruggedness
and control are you top priorities, the Hammerhead could be
the best binding choice for you. |
The unmatched power and control of the Hammerhead
is due to the adjustable underfoot cable routing, the large
toepiece with long wings that contact the full length of the
duckbill, and the long, smooth spring travel. The Hammerhead
is built to stand up to today's hard skiing telemarkers.
Features include:
-Five dramatically different cable guide positions. Optimize
your bindings for your skiing style and snow conditions and
make long tours a breeze.
-Cables routed underfoot for maximum control; plastic boots
finally flex at the bellows instead of tip-toeing.
-The spring-loaded HammerHeel is the easiest to use climber
available; flip it up or down with your pole's basket. Climbing
bails available in 3 different sizes.
-Plastic boot "rocker launch" eliminated
-Strong, durable 2000 lb test cable.
-One-piece toeplate construction - no welds, no rivets, no
double mount; makes for a bomb- proof binding.
-2" of spring travel for smooth action and durability |
Powder magazine-'07: "There is no correct way to drop a knee because every tele skier has his or her own style - the beauty of the sport. Which is why the HammerHead continues to be one of the best tele bindings on the market. With five cable positions, you can adjust the binding between neutral and active to your own liking. Very smooth and powerful, it's no wonder why the HammerHead is the choice for rippin' freeheelers."
'06:"You'll never see the Hammerhead being used by someone who sucks. Usually they're lapping you. Meaning, they know what you don't-that Hammerhead is a serious binding for the serious freeheeler..."
Backcountry magazine: "In the fifth setting,
the Hammerhead is so powerful that it can muscle any plank
on the hill into a turn. Yet in the number one position,
backcountry travel is effortless. The only downfalls of the
Hammerhead are that the six-hole mounting system does not
work with the new 4-bolt pattern, and that it takes some
practice to master the flex adjustment."
Skiing magazine:"Land 15-footers, carve GS screamers, climb 5,000 vert: The HammerHead works with you - thanks to five adjustable pivot points. At number 5, you can power the front ski and pressure the trailing one; at number 1, you approach the no-resistance feel of an AT rig." |
