Telemark and Alpine Touring (AT) Ski Sizing

Ski manufacturers determine proper ski length in a variety of different ways. Black Diamond sizes skis based on weight, where Dynafit uses height to determine ski sizing. Whether you're looking for telemark or AT skis, the size you choose is a combination of personal preference, ability, weight and intended use.
Ski construction and dimensions will also impact ski length choice. Some factors to consider when sizing a ski are whether or not the ski has twin tips, or if it's designed with early rise or rocker. These can impact the running length of the ski, and in turn, your ski length choice.
A shorter running length will be more maneuverable, and a longer running length allows for greater edge contact during a turn.
If you're stuck between two sizes, a good rule of thumb is to go with the longer ski.
Take a look at our Ski Comparison Chart to compare dimensions, length, weight and turn radius of skis from a variety of ski manufacturers.
