The latest revolution in attaching telemarkers to their skis, the New Telemark Norm requires a special boot with an attachment point on a "second heel" under the instep, rather than a cable around the heel.
The mechanics of this system allow for a very active binding, the closest thing to a telemark step-in feature available (you still have to push a toe lever down with your pole handle), and non-DIN releasability. There is also a nice tour function on the NTN.
Four cartridge options allow you to customize "activeness" and release retention: White Extra Soft; Green Soft; Blue Medium; Red Rigid.
Note that the release function is not standardized and may not operate consistently under varying conditions. |
